ALCHEMY OF SPIRIT

Shadow Archives Book One

A séance gone wrong.
A haunted manor.
A tenacious alchemist.

Ghosts cannot kill.

Every mediumship manual swears by it, and yet, Delilah Gray, alchemist for the Shadow Archives, is summoned to Ebonhurst Manor to investigate a séance that has ended with a dead medium and babbling witnesses. The evidence is contradictory, pointing to both spectral and alchemical means.

Was this woman killed by a poltergeist? Or merely made to look like she was?

Ebonhurst itself is a mystery, a once-grand estate now crumbling under the weight of its own secrets. Its master, Victor Davenhart, blames his father’s ghost—an apparition who has been haunting the halls for years—claiming the patriarch has finally turned lethal.

But the deeper Delilah digs, the more she suspects the danger lurking inside Ebonhurst is very much alive.

And now, she must work side by side with the one man guaranteed to complicate her life: Mr. Thorne, a covert agent for the Archives. His charm (and her vexing reactions to him) unsettle her far more than any ghost.

Something strange is going on at Ebonhurst, and Delilah refuses to back down from discovering the truth, but her encyclopedic knowledge of alchemy may not save her if she strays too far behind those ivy-covered walls.

Because something is watching Delilah.

And it’s waiting for her to make a mistake…

Alchemy of Spirit is a gaslamp fantasy mystery, the first book in the alchemy-laced world of the Shadow Archives series, where The X-Files meets the Victorian era with magic.

A flashback with the protagonist who experienced psychological abuse as a child, implied domestic abuse of another character, some violence (nothing graphic), and occasional profanity. This is definitely more intense than a cozy mystery but not dark either.

“Marvelous fantasy mystery with a winningly willful alchemist heroine.”
